Earlier today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked if she was worried impeaching Trump would alienate his supporters.
“No, I’m not worried about that,” Pelosi replied “The fact is the president committed an act of incitement of insurrection. I don’t think it’s very unifying to say oh let’s just forget it and move on. That’s not how you unify.”
“That’s our responsibility,” she continued “to uphold the integrity of the Congress of the United States. That’s our responsibility, to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Asked Pelosi if she’s concerned that an impeachment trial would undercut the message of unity from Biden yesterday and alienate GOP supporters of Trump. “No,” she said, arguing that not moving ahead would be the bigger problem. “I think that would be harmful to unity.” https://t.co/9F5rM63uKY
