President Trump officially announced the end of another Middle Eastern conflict. He said the ceasefire in Syria is now permanent as the sides with most at stake in the region have agreed to a course of action.
The establishment will howl, as they do with everything Trump does, but consider the source.
They mucked up that region for decades with little to show for it but more war. Yes, that region is a tricky one but remember, if Bush and Obama had not destabilized the entire world by their actions and inactions, Trump would never have been elected.
The truth is the blunders of the past led us here, Trump is simply trying to clean up the mess and chart a more peaceful path forward. It may not work, but why not try?
“Early this morning, the Government of Turkey … said that they would be stopping combat and their offensive in Syria, making the ceasefire permanent, and it will indeed be permanent,” Trump said from the White House announcing an end to another conflict in the Middle East.
Trump lifted sanctions against Turkey unless something “happens that we’re not happy with.”
“Today’s announcement validates our course of action,” he said before adding “Now people are saying, ‘Wow, what a great outcome.’”
“This was an outcome created by us, the United States, and nobody else,” Trump said. “No other nation, very simple.
We’re willing to take blame and we’re also willing to take credit. This is something they’ve been trying to do. For many, many decades since then.”
“Let someone else fight over this long-bloodstained sand,” Trump continued correctly. “We’ve done a great job and now we’re getting out.”
Trump added some wise words:
“However, you would also define the word permanent and that part of the world is somewhat questionable,” Trump said.
“This was an outcome created by us, the United States, and nobody else”
