Romney Is Trying To Block Burisma Hunter Biden Investigation, Forgets To Mention He’s Tied To Burisma Too

by Paul Goldberg

Utah Senator Mitt Romney is trying to block the investigation into Hunter Biden and Burisma Holding under the guise that he believes people are tired of politically motivated investigations. However, he forgot to mention he has ties to Burisma as well.

Romney is on the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, whose chairman, Johnson is holding a vote on March 11th to subpoena Andrii Telizhenko, a former consultant for a firm that Burisma hired to deal with allegations of corruption.

Tlizhenko has been cooperative however, without a subpoena he is bound by a non-disclosure agreement.

If Romney votes against the measure it will kill the subpoena and halt the investigation.

“There’s no question that the appearance of looking into Burisma and Hunter Biden appears political,” Romney told reporters Thursday when asked about the upcoming subpoena vote. “I think people are tired of these kind of political investigations.”

“I would hope if there is something of significance that needs to be evaluated that would be done perhaps the FBI or some other agency that’s not as political as perhaps a committee of our body,” the Utah senator continued. “We also have a lot of work to do on matters that are not related to Burisma. We probably ought to focus on those things.”

Romney said that he will make a decision after he personally meets with Johnson.

What Romney failed to mention is that he has ties to Burisma himself while Hunter Biden was on the board.

Way back in 2011 a top adviser to Mitt Romney, Joseph Cofer Black, joined Burisma’s board of directors while Hunter Biden was serving on Burisma’s board.

According to The New Yorker, Hunter joined Burisma’s board in April of 2014 and remained on it until he declined to renew his position this past May. Meanwhile, according to Burisma’s website, Black was appointed in February of 2017 and continues to serve on its board. The timelines would indicate that Black and Biden worked together at Burisma.

This means that in the fall leading up to the 2012 presidential election Romney’s foreign policy advisor ended up on the board of Burisma working with the current Vice Presidents son.

No wonder why he doesn’t want an investigation into Burisma.
