In a new interview, former President Obama shared his theory as to why President Trump was able to expand his share of black voters in the recent 2020 election.
Trump’s share of the Black electorate grew from roughly 6 percent in 2016 to roughly 8 percent in 2020.
12 percent of Black men voted for Trump, as opposed to only 6 percent of Black women.
Obama told Peter Hamby his theory “I think men generally are more susceptible to public figures who act tough, try to project a stereotypical macho style.”
“I don’t think Black men are immune to that any more than White or Hispanic men are,” he added.
Trump’s share of the Latino vote also grew to about 35 percent, up from roughly 28 percent four years ago.
