“The BREATHE Act,” a new far-left proposal being spearheaded by “squad” members Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) calls for defunding police and incentivizing states to expand voting access.
In a call with activists Tlaib touted the act
“In this historic moment, it is critical that we listen to and trust the leadership of black activists around the country. They have been on the front lines in defense of black lives for decades. And it is our responsibility as legislators to hear them, respect them, and follow their example.
“The BREATHE Act is bold. It’s meaningful. It’s transformative.” Tlaib continued “It pushes us to reimagine power structures and what community investment really looks like. If we listen to our community members and leaders in the streets, we can start to envision through this bill a new vision for public safety. One that protects and affirms black lives.”
This proposal includes, according to the proposal “Allowing local and State resident voting for undocumented people.”
From Section 4 of the “Breathe” act.
Some of the other eye opening proposals in the “Breathe” act include:
- Ending life sentences
- Repealing federal laws that criminalize human movement and border entry
- Decriminalizing and retroactively expunging drug offenses.
“Until ICE and CBP are fully dismantled, ending State and local police entanglement with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and all federal immigration enforcement agencies;”

We must invest in a new vision of public safety.
Today, I am proud to join the calls coming out of one of the largest movements for justice that my district and our country have ever seen to say unapologetically:
