The IG report dropped yesterday and it is one of if not the biggest scandal in American history.
And that is the fact even if it was just sheer incompetence and arrogance that drove James Comey and the rest to do what they did.
If it was actual malice then it is by far the biggest scandal in American history. or so believes Lindsey Graham who is cutting through the noise with the simple facts and calling it criminal.
“The point I want to make is, let’s assume for a moment it started out okay, it sure as hell didn’t end okay,” Lindsey said.
And that is what the media is missing in their attempt to cover it up – the media narrative was built upon in large parts the Carter Page FISA warrant.
Those things are not given out lightly, or so we were told (and the FBI was above reproach) so there must have been considerable fire underneath all the smoke.
It was also one of the few publicly confirmed facts about the case as the rest was shrouded behind classification systems and media hysteria.
No one knew what to believe but as they were able to get and to renew a FISA warrant, Trump’s team must have been dirty, or so the media narrative went.
Except it was all a lie. It was at that point that Lindsey said this became a criminal enterprise and he is not wrong either.
“I believe there will be no debate among reasonably minded people, particularly lawyers, about how the system got off the rails, but in my view became a criminal enterprise to defraud the FISA court, to deny American citizen Carter Page his constitutional rights, and to continue an operation against President Trump as president of the United States,” he said.
“These are statements I don’t make lightly.”
Although Horowitz harshly criticized the FBI’s conduct, he ruled that the officials overseeing the investigation were not tainted by political bias and their information was “sufficient to satisfy the low threshhold” to launch the probe.
Attorney General William Barr issued a statement condemning the report’s conclusions, saying it proved the FBI launched an “intrusive” probe into the Trump campaign on “the thinnest of suspicions.”
“It is also clear that, from its inception, the evidence produced by the investigation was consistently exculpatory,” Barr said. “Nevertheless, the investigation and surveillance was pushed forward for the duration of the campaign and deep into President Trump’s administration.
