Iowa officials certify Republican Miller-Meeks 6 vote victory over Dem Rita Hart

Iowa officials have certified the results of Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks defeating incumbent Democrat Rita Hart by a mere 6 votes in the House race for Iowa’s 2nd congressional district.

Per the Hill “Miller-Meeks will succeed seven-term Rep. David Loebsack (D-Iowa), who announced his retirement last year. She previously lost to him in the 2008, 2010 and 2014 general elections, but with Loebsack’s retirement, the district was considered a swing district.”

Miller Meeks tweeted Friday “It is the honor of a lifetime to be elected to serve the people of eastern and southern Iowa. Iowans are tenacious, optimistic and hard working, and I will take those same attributes to Washington, D.C. #ia02

Many Republicans have congratulated her including GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, Ronna McDaniel, and Elise Stefanik.
