Hawley says spending $40 billion in Ukraine "not in America’s interests"

Monday, Senator Josh Hawley wrote “Spending $40 billion on Ukraine aid – more than three times what all of Europe has spent combined – is not in America’s interests. It neglects priorities at home (the border), allows Europe to freeload, short changes critical interests abroad and comes w/ no meaningful oversight”

“That’s not isolationism. That’s nationalism. It’s about prioritizing American security and American interests,” he added.

“My biggest concern is that I don’t think this represents a nationalist foreign policy. I mean, it seems to me to be part of this unfocused globalism that unfortunately many in my party have embraced in the last couple of decades,” Hawley told Fox News.

“The amounts we’re talking about are astronomical. I think $40 billion would be about three times as much as Europe has contributed combined, all of the European states, for a war that’s happening on their continent,” Hawley explained, saying he’s worried it will continue allowing Europe to “freeload.”

“I’m concerned that it shortchanges priorities here at home. We could build a border wall twice over with this amount of money,” he added.

A few days earlier Hawley reacted to the report that “The Biden administration says it’s canceling three oil and gas lease sales scheduled in the Gulf of Mexico and off the coast of Alaska. That will remove millions of acres from possible drilling as U.S. gas prices reach record highs.”

Hawley fired back “Joe Biden – committed to making Americans poorer”
