In Ohio Democrats were not only trying to restrict guns but in some blue run cities they attempt to restrict Americans ability to carry pocket knives.
For example, the city of Akron forbids people to carry a blade more than 2.5 inches in length without “proper justification.” The city of Cleveland has a similar law and also blocks the sale of switchblades, spring blades, gravity knives, spring-loaded weapons that can propel a knife, ballistic knives and others. Lastly, Dayton does not allow the sale of switchblades, spring blades, gravity knives, or similar weapons.
Ohio Senate Bill 156 overrode all of these local ordinances and would allow any citizen affected by the local statutes due cause to sue the municipality.
The Bill locks in a 2021 bill that allows the people of Ohio to defend themself.
From WBNS 10:
The legislation effectively locks in a law passed in 2021 that lets Ohioans carry concealed knives. The list of weapons allowed for manufacturing, sale and concealed carry include brass knuckles, cestuses, billy clubs, blackjacks, sandbags, switchblade knives, springblade knives, gravity knives, and similar weapons.
In Ohio, Democrats wield political control of the urban centers, while Republicans control the statehouse and governor’s office. Thus, the legislation preemptively blocks the Democratic cities from enacting any ordinance of their own that might restrict the right to carry knives beyond what statehouse Republicans call for.
The passage of the defense bill compliments Senate bill 215, which legalized constitutional carry.
Lately, DeWine has been the latest Republican Governor to push back, even though he took a lot of heat for complying with draconian COVID restrictions.
The newest legislation allows a teacher approved by their school distraction to carry a weapon concealed as long as they attend a 24-hour state-approved training class.
