Thursday evening, Rep. Stefanik tweeted a statement following a bombshell NY post report alleging top Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa, told leading state Democratic lawmakers that the administration had withheld data on COVID-19 deaths at nursing homes to avoid federal scrutiny.
Stefanik writes “Governor Cuomo, the secretary to the governor, and his senior team must be prosecuted immediately – both by the attorney general of New York state and the U.S. Department of Justice.”
She adds “this bombshell admission of a cover-up and the remarks by the secretary to the governor indicating intent to obstruct any federal investigation is a stunning and criminal abuse of power.”

The revelation has others calling for an investigation, condemning Cuomo, and even calls for impeachment.
Rep. Lee Zeldin, a NY Republican, is calling for the DOJ to open an obstruction of justice investigation.
Zeldin said “The families of thousands of dead New York seniors deserve accountability and justice for the true consequences of Governor Cuomo’s fatally flawed nursing home policy and the continued attempts to cover it up. It’s clear what’s happening here is criminal.”
